I'm a writer, editor, and teacher who earned a master of arts degree from the University of Chicago (literature and creative writing) and bachelor's degrees from Oregon State University (music, magna cum laude) and Portland State University (English language and literature).

In the area of nonfiction, I have written extensively on books and literature (both classic and contemporary) as well as film and music. I have also published short stories, personal essays, and photography.

As a teacher, I help high school students preparing for college with their writing for class and for application essays. I have experience teaching a classical liberal arts curriculum to middle and high school students.

I'm always looking to learn new things and explore new subjects.
